Heart Failure Less Likely for Active Seniors
Action Points
- In this study of older adults who were free of heart failure, the probability of significant increases in N-terminal pro–B-type natriuretic peptide and cardiac troponin T levels between baseline and follow-up visits was inversely related to physical activity scores.
- Note that this study was not a randomized comparison of exercise training versus usual care, and therefore cannot prove causality.
